great weekend of weather. Went up to cookham and arrived at about 11.00am and only a few spaces left on the field. Got so hot on saturday that I actually went the river for a swim.

had planned on staying at cookham all day sunday, but was to hot to just sit around, so we decided to head down to dorney lake just so we could get the breeze to cool us down. Stayed there until sunset and then headed back to the marina as it was getting dark.

Great pictures, we couldn't get in at Cookham on Friday afternoon as it was so busy. We made it up to Henley for Saturday and then back down to Cookham for Sunday and back to Windsor Monday morning.

It was so hot this weekend and I couldn't believe how busy the river was, every one that seemed to be able to get their hands on some kind of boat did! There were more than one or two who had no idea what they were doing..

Ian, you missed a great weekend out!
 
cookham was very busy, and it wasn't helped by some inconsiderate mooring by some boaters. A couple of narrowboaters on the path had big gaps between them (but not quite big enough for another boat).
There was also a large sealine at the start of the field area near the sailing club, that had also moored in such a way that he had big gaps front and back, but again not quite enough room for another boat - he also had his tender in the water at the back just to make sure no-one else moored up there. We actually pulled up alongside to see if we could fit in, at which point he looked up and then dissapeared down below.
I always make a point when at places like cookham, that I don't put my anchor down until late in the evening, just in case boats in front or behind move off - that way I can move up or down to close the gaps, so other boats can get in.
 
I know! Those narrow boats were still there on Sunday night when we returned and looked like they had not moved since we saw them on Friday. We are only 28ft so don't need a huge space and there were a couple of spaces I thought we may have been able to get in but were just literally a couple of feet short.

Boats had space front and back but just looked at us or looked away as we were trying to find a space. I do the same as you and try to be considerate or move if we can get another boat in.

Unfortunately Cookham and Brocas always seem to be a problem for mooring with very few people willing to notice other boats!
 
Ah we have our own method of dealing with the inconsiderate moorers who leave the gaps not quite big enough to moor in.

We have several attempts at getting into the obviously too small gap, then we come out turn around and aim to raft alongside one of the boats either side of the gap. None times out of ten one of the boats will then come out and offer to move. The other one time you end up rafted up for the evening. Never fails :D

Seriously, its a poor do when our own kind can be so bloody inconsiderate.

And don't I know it Simone. We were at Weymouth and on the Sunday in Lulworth cove. It was torture watching the people cruise in and drop anchor to enjoy the sun.

Not sure what the weather has in hold for this Saturday but will be down to the boat, probably having to clean it rather than go out. Mind you, life's too short to worry about a bit of polish when there's time to cruise ;-)

Next weekends weather doesnt look great. We have it down for an odd jobs and polishing weekend. Leaves the nice weekends for cruising in a shiny and clean boat that way :)
 
Finally went out on the river

It's the first time we have managed to get out on the boat since the forum meetup.

It was chilly, grey, a bit of drizzle.....and bloody brilliant! Not a big cruise, just from Harleyford to Henley.

We bumped into some friends along the way who told us of their exploits at the WYC trying to win the ladies skipper boat handling. Nothing unusual you may say but it turns out our friend Paul and another male skipper kitted themselves out with dresses in an attempt to grab themselves a trophy but it did them no good at all, they were beaten fair and square by our other friends Simone and Sanna.

We have had our 'fix' of the drug that is boating but it's heady effects will need feeding on a regular basis, ok I admit it, I'm an addict.....
