Looks like we may be heading to Cambodia (flying in to Phnom Penh so that region), havn't had a chance to read up yet as its all just happened last minute, does anyone have any advice for destinations around this area around November, would really like to bareboat for 5-7 days while were there.

Any advice on general regions to visit or specific charter companies all appreciated.

If it's a bad/not ideal time to go, we may give it a skip and change destinations as were open to most of asia destination wise... (and go back at a better time) so need to decide quickly if it's the place to go (weatherwise etc...) for some nice beaches and a few days sailing!

Sailed in KoChang Thailand a couple years back and loved it, so hopefully something will come about! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks.

We went on a Mekong river cruise as part of a far east holiday a couple of years ago. Cruised from Phnom Pehn (well from Tonle Sap lake) down to near Saigon. I do not think you will find charter boats of any description likely, I could be wrong but would be surprised. As for beaches forget it, the Mekong is a fabulous major river but is commercialised for the local population, every thing happens on the river. Don't get me wrong it is an unforgetable experience, the city, villages, people and history both past and present, but not "charter territory".

Hi Bob, thanks for your response, it looks like we'll be heading down towards Sihanouk (the Islands on the south coast), after flying in to Phnom Pehn which hopefully will have some nice beaches and good diving. I did find one charter company (with 2 boats!), we've now got some time to plan, but had to make our minds up quick to secure the flights last night hence the hasty post. Looks like the weather etc... should be okay in November, If anyone's got any advice on the Sihanouk region would be great, whether is sailing or not... if no boat charters come about we'll probably just hop on a liveaboard for a week or so.

So looks to be an exciting trip!
