I have been given a Phillips mk 8 gps, without documentation. I have been assured that it works. Please
can anybody give me, either
contact details for the uk disributor, Ampro seem to have disappeared,
or details of the nmea output as I want to feed postion to a Navman 7200 vhf anf a JRC 1000 mk2 radar and need to check compatability

My last boat had one on board. Fantastic bit of kit. Here is the email from the Leica/GPs agent re my enquiry

Richard,
Sorry this has taken so long, I just looked through my emails and saw it again.
Here are the connections for the 9 pin connector:
1 - REF GND. Reference for MOB signal. Connected to navigator shield
2 - NMEA listener A (input)
3 - NMEA talker A (output)
4 - MOB (Man over board) signal
5 - - battery. External power
6 - Programming voltage. For service use only.
7 - NMEA listener B (input)
8 - NMEA talker B (output)
9 - + battery. External power.
Screen - Shield of NMEA talker cable.

As far as upgrading goes, the unit iis really too old now, and there have been no upgrades for a long time. Testing would be best done where the unit is. If it seems not to work, I would be happy to take a look at it for you, but it would need to be sent here.

NMEA can be used to connect other things to the unit.

We have one manual here so I cannot let it go, but I could photocopy it for you perhaps. Obviously I would have to charge to cover my time if I did this.

Hope this covers everything. Let me know if you need anything more.

Regards,
Richard
