I bought one of these in Maplins today to allow me to wirelessly connect my iPhone to the boats stereo via its Aux input using Bluetooth..

It comes with a 240v switch mode charger sending 9VDC to the device, but doesn't state what the input voltage tolerance is acceptable to the device itself. I've checked the website but that just shows the same details as the included owners manual.
So do I just plug it in to the boats 12 - 14 VDC supply and hope it will survive, or simply install a 9v regulated power supply unit in the supply wires. ? Current draw is only 300 ma. Ebay offers plenty of suitable regulators.
