Hi all,

Just purchased a Newbridge Virgo Voyager with a Petter mini 6 sea water cooled engine, think it's the ab1w. Just a few questions:

There is a salty discharge (not that kind of site) around the cylinder block and it looks like some gasket needs replacing. Any idea where I might get a maintenance manual to attempt this type of work.

Does anyone have a maintenance schedule for these engines as I've seen other posts about replacing internal anodes etc.

Finally, the engine is cooled by a Jabsco pump driven by a pulley wheel and belt. On my boat the steel pump shaft caused wear on the aluminium pulley wheel which was held in place with a grub screw on a flat face of the shaft. A temp repair was to drill through the shaft and secure the wheel with a split pin. However this has now also failed. I'm wondering if anyone has come across this problem before on this or other engines, and can you offer any solutions.

Many thanks,

Ronan

the problem with petters is the ali head thhey just rot away usualy through lack of maint. just take the head off and check head for rot if you find any on the face then look for new head but they cost about 850 pounds you may if you search realy hard find a second hand one though dont hold youre breath it may be easier to buy a complete engine sinle ore twin (one head is the same)i did recently for 100 pounds best of luck KIERON

have two ab1w / ac1w operators handbooks, which detail maintenance schedules, torque spanner settings etc,. You can have the one I dont want.
ab1w have alloy heads and need regular attention to anodes to prevent corrosion.

Hi dwarwick, i've sent you a pm looking for an address so that I could send on a SAE to save you the postage costs for the spare Petter Mini-6 manual. If it's still available, could you get in touch. Many thanks,
