Has anyone else been up the Medway recently and seen all the engineering works going on?
Apparently its going to be a whole new village of approx 1000 houses with shops etc, this bridge is the access road.

Been planned for ages. The entire riverside area was one vast mass of weedy concrete rubble and the derelict remains of several old cement works demolished 50 years ago.A couple of old chalk quarries are also involved.
Should have been started several years ago but the recession presumably put off the developers.
The bridge is to connect the development to the main road in Halling and the nearbye M20 and M2.Marine traffic wanting to get underneath was noted.
The local council also prohibited small country roads on the south side of the river from being used as main access to the new village..
The entire project includes loads of new cycle paths and walkways and landscaping to try and restore the area to what it was before the cement industry took over.
Suspect that the developers will try to arrange house viewing when the tide is in.:) Many many years of shopping trolleys and other detritus lying on the bottom and it completely dries there.
There is however the remains of solid concrete wall which you can moor against when the tide is in.Have had few picnics up there.

A classic brownfield site.

I think you will find your wall is being hidden by huge steel piles.
Not sure how far they are going up river?
I havent been up there for months now and was genuinely surprised to see the cranes etc.
What with all the new houses on the old Rugby cement site plus this lot the A228 is going to get very busy.
I also saw trucks and machines working in the Rugby cement site by the silos, not sure what they were doing but looked like they were unloading a truck and trailer, must have been important as it was a Sunday.

Normally moored at far end of your pix.You could get around 3/4 hours there on decent tide.
Although maybe now the shuttering continues round the corner as well ?
Not been up to Allington so far this year.

A chum lives behind the trees on the left and has been grumbling about, old tyres the development for years, spect he signed a NIMBY petition or two as well.
The whole riverbank,as you know, resembled a WW1 battlefield for as long as I can remember, this can only improve the area.
All the locals fought tooth and nail to keep the piles of concrete rubble, twisted steel, flytipped refuse, old tyres and burnt out cars of course.:)

Do you know what happening further down river just up from the water ski club on the Cuxton side near the old tunnel entrances?
Not sure whats going on, but they have had a damned good clear out and managed to get a car and a van there, also a mini digger and a mini dumper, two boats moored there as well.
