Peter\'s Cafe Sport Horta

I think they concentrate on quantity rather than quality these days, staff seem overworked, waccy system of boss on the till so they have to wander off to get change, in several visits never quite got the drinks or food order right.

Best one was when one of our crew asked if they had wifi, guy wandered behind the bar & spent ages looking for it on the all the bottle labels !.

Bought the shirt anyway !

But the main thing is to get a photo of yourself outside the cafe with the sign in the picture to prove you have been there /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If Peters and Horta is such a drag now why don't you all stop going there and cluttering the place up then?

I hear Easter Island is still pretty unspoilt /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

GPS has a lot to answer for, doesn't it?

I wonder what these guys immortalised upstairs in Peters would make of it today . . .

[/ QUOTE ] I thought the main thing is to paint your boat's pic to ensure safe onward passage - or is there no longer any room after TCM has painted Mojomo slightly bigger than lifesize?

And if you stay there for a week, every new boat that arrives and rafts up insists you join them for their peters beer!! it gets very tiring!

Sounds like a proper ordeal!

I'll have to give it a go! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I guess some of the magic and romance has gone....sad, really...

It took a while to recover but is remembered as the longest party I've ever been to...and lots of new friends, many of whom we'd been listening to on ssb for a week or more. Every night in the season they get 5-10 boats I've heard.

Had to go in for fuel, gas, laundry( superb, picked up at 11am & returned at 4pm, still warm. I wouldn't have opened the bag without biohazard protection !) Enjoyed the kebab at peters so much I had another, followed by several more beers.
May be something to do with living on tinned meat, pasta & rice for two weeks !

Re: Peter\'s Cafe Sport Horta

Ok so maybe it doesn't have quite the kudos it had when Peter was host but at the end of the day to get there you either fly there - (doesn't count), sail from US/Caribbean or from Gib heading back to the UK in which case bask in the collective glow of some of the more famous visitors. I certainly enjoyed that first beer and then some more.

While on the subject of that lovely bar, does anyone have a decent picture of the wallchart showing the laying of the underwater cable from Azores to Britain. A friend of mine's uncle was on that boat and he would love a picture after I mentioned it having visited a few years ago.
