Boat owners seem very proficient at giving various bits of their boat pet names.
The auto pilot always seems to be named.
What names have you got on your boat for various places or things?

When the kids sailed with us everything seemed to get named after Harry Potter characters. The engine was Hagrid and the gps was Hermione.

I know of a boat where the autopilot is called Pontius!

The autopilot gets a name (George) because it does something that a person normally does. I don't feel any need to name other parts of the boat.

I leave the dehumidificator running most of the winter. The Eberspacher has a variety of names in January and February when it refuses to ignite, but all of them would be reported as asterisks here!

Tiller pilot is called "A-go", because when our son was 5 "A-go" and "Darney" were made up as fiticious friends by him on our first big family cruise to the Channel Islands, they stayed on board ever since, and seems to like it! Darney does the electronics bit and A-go does tiller bit! We were so impressed with A-go and Darney's abilities to surf the boat in big sea's that they are favorites on board!

Autopilot: Snorky (kids came up with it - because of the 'snoring' sound it makes when in use)
Wind genny: Moulinex (because when the wind picks up, it sounds like the wife's blender)
TackTick windex: useless POS - because it is
Aft lazarette: is called 'the cellar' - because it is cavernous

My tiller pilot is also Ray...but he's a Raymondo, a charachter from "Ashes to Ashes"

That's naturally spread to the engine, a Lombardini, so sometimes it's a case of "fire up the Lambo" (or Lombo, depending on how we're feeling).

And lastly, we have the luxury of diesel heating. We call that unit "Justin"

Justin Bieberspacher.

The only thing named is 'George' ..... so just how did the standard / generic name for the Autopilot become George?

Many other things can aquire the name 'F-Kin' (whatever it is) ..... ;)
