Just bought a Nimbus, the perspex hatches in the wheelhouse shelter are cracked, Nimbus want 700 quid for them, does anybody know of anywhere that can produce perspex items, 700 quid seems a lot of money for 2 pieces of plastic.

Talking plastics advert in back of PBO made some new perspex for my hatch (I fitted it). Cost of the perspex was £80 for about 500mm x 500mm hatch. Getting the old perspex out of the hatch frame was a bit tricky (sharp knife + patience). Fitting the new one was easy.

Regards

Chris

Eagle Boat Windows made me some new perspex windows a few years back. I just sent him an old one as a pattern.

Barnoldswick, Yorkshire as I remember. They advertise in PBO.

You may want to try local sign makers, they use the raw material and recently made a complete set of windows for me, using the old as a pattern, including drilling all the holes etc.

A phone call could save you a fortune, they also do clear, tinted etc.

Your local plastic building supplies place should do it too, and maybe cut it to shape for you. Just remember 'Perspex' is a trade name for acrylic, and it may be cheaper if unbranded.

Richard.

I've just used a local sign company to make three new windows for our Beneteau. Eberhardt's in Portsmouth, Hants. Ask for John Eberhardt. 023 9282 4624.

Look in the yellow pages for a local plastics fabrication company. I use a local company who are very happy to supply me with these kind of items. Polycarbon or perspex. I have replaced recently the plastic on my forehatch for £30. In the past I have used them for new windows.
Dont pay marine prices.

Regards.

Peter.
