Personal Safety Gear!

Nothing to do with safety gear, but........

I was once at Island Sailing Club for a dinner, when one of the diners arrived from East Cowes. He'd come across on a windsurfer, wearing full dinner jacket, etc, right down to black patent leather shoes. Now that's confidence!

I've always wanted to do similar with a hang glider to just under Ferry Inn at Salcombe at low tide from hill opposite, but never had the courage of my convictions

A spelling error is a spelling error is it not.It can only become evolution if everyone uses it & it ends up in the dictionary. We have adopted some American spellings which I abhor,as well as replies to How are you,I am good. The person may be good but they usually mean that they are well. Some of the tags are excellent.I particularly like the one about open mind & brains falling out.
Miss Piggy had a punch line which describes yours well & it ends with the word Moi.
Anyway your posts are always interesting reading & I will now escape back to the R2R board.Safe sailing.

Thanks, Brendan, for informative reply. Certainly worth looking into.
The fundamental difference between your pastime and mine is that I guess you are talking passage times of a few hours at most, whereas I tend to liveaboard for 4 to 6 months at a time and even a Channel crossing can be 24 hours.

I know that Jon Clift, who was an ex RNLI coxswain, who used to run the powerboat training school in Salcombe was an enthusiastic Ravenspring wearer - and he'd be in it all day in all weathers, every working day - and those working days could be very long if night time training was involved. It was one of the things that sold me on the idea
