Personal insurance when sailing

I think that this one may have been done to death on these forums before.However I would be grateful if anyone could recommend where I could look for the above.
We travel to the boat twice a year ,spend 6-7 weeks each time on board,and would need standard accident & illness insurance.
Not interested in travel insurance eg delays,..baggage, pets skiing etc etc.

Any Ideas?

No idea what's available on the UK insurance market, but here in Belgoslavia we have "Europ Assistance", €200 pa for 5 adults, 2 cars. Have used it to get daughter down a mountain with broken leg, get Popeye helicoptered off a mountain with broken ankle, get son's car towed to repair after mechanical incident near home....

Why not?

IMHO you're just wasting your cash - perhaps you'd care to detail your reasons for your opinion.

Far cheaper to self-insure, and if you're sticking to EC countries you're fully covered for their health services.

Having spent time in French, Spanish and Greek hospitals for various acute emergencies (as well as Uk hospitals) I'm even more certain that you'd do better to hang on to your cash.

I've spent the last 10 years sailing (usually single-handed) in the Med and Atlantic, about x3 of your time on the boat.

In EU we rely on the reciprocal agrrements, but for turkey/levant we've been using these people:
travelinsurance.co.uk
taking out a ninety-day policy when we return to UK to cover our next trip out to turkey.
All done on-line, straightforward and at about £50-60 for three months reasonably priced - we've never made a claim, so no first-hand knowledge, but person who recommended them to us had made one and thought they'd ben very fair.

Insurance

I use Snowcard. I have annual cover with sailing at "Level 2" - up to 60 miles offshore as my main activity. Up to 12 miles is Level 1. But it covers other travel as well

In my case I used 6 days of hazard cover to cover the longer bits between france, corsica, sardinia, scilily italy greece. £80 for annual cover for 2 in Euroland, but they do cover else where. Like all policies it appears that no one will insure more than 3 months continuous travel at anyone time.

I used the cover in Greece - the EHIC covered the medical side fully, and the insurance the changed return flight I missed back to UK. So got my monies worth, plus £30 per day in hospital.

They paid up in 1 week.
