Hi,

Anyone know whether the Borg Warner Gearbox on a T6354M is the same for a contra rotating (X) engine as a standard rotation. Gearbox is the standard Perkins marinised fit.
They look identical, I have a spare which I may need to fit, but am unsure if it will be compatable.
Any knowledge appreciated.

Steve.

There's a guy at a marine engine company in Florida that is very knowledgeble on this topic. I'll dig out the details for you this evening and post them

Don't claim to be hugely technical but I thought it was the gearbox that generated the contra rotation and not the engine.
Surely all engines rotate the same way?

If you have the contra rotating 6.354X it is the engines which turn in opposite directions and not the gearbox. It (the gearbox) will be turning the right way when fitted either side.
If the gearbox is the same number it will fit and turn the right way regardless of what side you fit it to.
