Yacht is based in La Rochelle and just back from a week's maintenance. Not run for some time but all seemed fine. Twin engines M225TIs (YD). Port engine started as normal (after oil and cooling water checks). Ran for 20 mins until temperature came up to normal, good cooling water outflow. Same checks on stbd engine which stated but although oil pressure was correct, low lube oil warning lt and alarm came on. Engine bay was open and dark smoke started coming from engine port side. Almost instantaneously oil pressure gauge went from normal to zero. Shut down engine, wiring was burning on port side from oil pressure sensor, hence the smoke. Wiring self-extinguished. Engine is 2007 but only 800 hours and annually serviced and has run faultlessly. Do I just replace the wiring and are such parts available?
