I think you can centre punch the pump body and timing housing. Put the crank into a known position, ie tdc, whip the pump of and refit in the same place. But dont take word for it.
Perhaps ask Golden Arrow Marine or PB Asher in Southampton.
Google Perkins Phaser or Perkins 1006 rather than M225ti.

Beware the fuel pump turns once for every 2 turns of the crankshaft so make sure you are on the compression stroke then you know exactly where you are should some one shift something otherwise you could be 180 deg out.
