Just bought a Warrior 40 from a Norwegian couple and their documentation includes a Manual for the engine in SWEDISH ! Help!
Has anybody out there got a any info about getting hold of an English version as our searches have brought zero results so far?

Are you sure it's not an M50?

M50 is a Perkins Prima, which is also a Volvo Penta MD22 i think.

Hi Bob
Yes, it says it's a Prima M60 with 59 HP at 4000 rpm. I think it's basically the same as an M50 but with higher rating. Thanks for your help.

Have you tried putting your serial number into this page.

[Later] According to this thread, it's the same as the MD-22, so you can get a manual from the page above.

The VP MD22L and the Perkins Prima are marinised Montego 2.0 diesel engines.

You can get belts and filters etc. much cheaper if you buy the car parts. A car dealer friend of mine got me filters for a few quid each after double checking the VP part nos.. The yard at Glasson dock got me belts from an auto spares place.

Ah, it is the one I thought then.

Go onto fleabay and buy yourself a Perkins Prima Haynes manual.

It's the non-turbo version, so it'll be the Maestro engine (which was originally the BL 'O' series petrol engine that they used on the Ital and the Princess). They then gave it to Perkins to turn it into a diesel, and Perkins then sold it to VP, who sprayed it green and doubled the price.

I've got the TAMD22 (which is the turbo aftercooler version of the same engine), so if you want to know where to get bits, give me a shout.

I know it sounds dull like, but have tried contacting Perkins? They'll have a .pdf fromat manual somewhere.

As for VP, don't forget that VP do alter quite a bit on thier badged engines so things may not be quite the same for an original Perkins model. My MB21B has a seperate heat exchanger in front/above the engine, another model of the same engine (Peugeot XDP 4.90) has a bowman combined heat exchanger/exhaust manifold - plenty of other differences as well.

So check it out first - call Perkins and see what they have. By the way I have a pdf of the Prima specifications and basic installation guide if you pm me I'll send it over.

I also got my MD21B manual from VP as a free download on thier site - took a bit of finding but still free>

I have a Perkins M60 in my Moody 44. I do have the full owners manual inc spares part nos but the manual is on the boat. (in Greece)
I wont be back there until begining of June but if you dont get any luck elsewhere, PM me towards the end of May and I'll bring it back and send you a scanned copy.

When I called Perkins for some info on my Freight Rover. There was a somewhat cagey reply. " Um, we did build some engines for Rover/Austin Montegos." I more or less had to beg him to give the data (not much) that I needed.
Second the Haines Manual. Everthing you need for the basic motor.
