I have a Perkins Prima M50 (1992) fitted in my boat. I recently had a problem when it stopped pumping cooling water, upon investigation I discover that the shaft on the raw water pump was worn, further investigation showed that the drive adaptor that fits onto the end of the camshaft was also worn. This means that the drive adaptor plate also needed to come off and then it all has to be refitted with a special alignment tool.

I have refitted everything back together without the use of this tool. but I'm unhappy with how it sounds and promptly switched the engine off.

I've searched and goggled but cannot find a source for this tool, does anyone have one that they'd be prepared to lend me?

Thanks

IF the adaptor on the end of the car camshaft to drive the car steering pump is the same, then I will have one at home spare. Prob is I wont be there for a few weeks.
PM me if you like

Thanks Stu for your offer, I'll wait for the manual to arrive and see what it says about the adaptor on the end of the car camshaft to drive the car steering pump and how it compares to the adaptor for the raw water pump.

Hi Trop. Did you find out about the adaptor plate in the end? I'm finding myself in the same situation here...
