I am presently interested in a Moody that is fitted with a Perkins Perama Diesel (1993 35 HP) . Can anyone please advise on the reliabilty of this unit?

Good engine. No known serious faults. Reliability however will depend entirely on condition. All usual tests apply.....

I have the Perama M20 - 18HP - the same base engine as the Volvo Penta current small range, 2010, 2020 and 2030. Has been reliable, check for blocked exhaust elbow as mine got choked completely - fitted a Volvo Penta spare part as it was cheaper!! On mine the fuel filter on the engine is immediately above one of the engine mounts and fuel WILL drip onto it when changinging filters - howver careful you are. Some replacement filters are longer than others and a B***** to get on and off without removing all the brackets etc..... On mine there is a fuse hidden in the wiring loom - don't know about the larger one. I have an instruction leaflet which I can photocopy if you need it. Spares fro VOLSPEC at Tollesbury who are also VP agents and very helpful.

I'd rather be sailing... :-) /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
