Recently, after an 'unreliable' period, my "Engine Stop" button on the console has ceased to function, and this, I'm presuming, activates the solenoid mounted on the fuel pump block to shut down the fuel supply, thus stopping the engine.
The diesel is not "running away" in the conventional sense, and in order to shut it down I have to remove the air filter and shut off the air supply, the engine stops almost immediately. Now this is quite a bothersome routine and is far from an ideal situation.
Tracing the wiring is made doubly difficult in that the tracer colours appear to change in inaccessible places and the handbook is next to useless.
Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon, and if so what was/were the solution(s)?
If not, does anyone have a good wiring or block diagrams depicting the system so that I may chase all possible sources of the fault?
I am recently arrived in Falmouth Harbour, Antigua and haven't yet found a source of Perkins spares.
Thanks in anticipation of enlightened comments from the assembled experts?
