I have recently bought a Moody with a Perkins M50 engine.
At any speed over 1800 rpm the overheat alarm sounds.
I therefore have to reduce engine speed to 1700 or below.
This gives me a boat speed below 5 Kn which is too slow for situations of strong winds or tides.
The exit water is not very hot but I cannot put my hand on the engine so clearly the engine is not cooling effectively.
Has anyone had a similar problem and if so how did you solve it?
Thanks in advance for your response.
