Hi,
I’m looking at options to upgrade the fuel system on my twin Perkins 6354 Turbos. They are horizontal engines fitted to a Broom 37 Continental. I have Cav Type FS fuel filter that are cartridge type filters. Can anyone recommend a spin on filter conversion kit? ASAP seem to do one but its for a different model. Was hoping to get something that could be bolted straight on without modifying the pipes.
Im also looking at installing new primary filters/water seperators. Is the Parker Racor the best option here?

Thanks.

The Racor 500 is good for your engines as a pre filter .
If you monitor the elements on a regular basis ad drain off any water you will hardly need to change the engine filters.
As an ex Perkins engineer I’m not aware of any replacement for the CAV element on each engine.
The later phased engine used a single screw on filter , as it was a Bosch filter head .
You could run 2 of the 500 units inline with a 5 micron element in then forget the engine ones .

Hi VP,
Thanks for the info. I had planned to install one Racor 500 on each engine with a 10 micron filter element.
I guess I’ll have to stick with the existing cartridge filters as secondary filters.
Thanks

Your engines are known as HT6.354 and using that will make it clear for people.

The 3 o ring engine filters are cav 296. Spin on replacements linked below, do check measurements and clearances as it's tight on space underneath the bottom of the filters on your engines.

Do report back if the above have clearance or not, I expect so, but would be good to know.
