Perkins 4236M diesel advice
I think I have been suffering from a batch of bad raw water impellors and a worn raw water pump cam which results in having to repeatedly clean out impellor bade tips in the heat exchanger which on my installation is a pain in the a**e.
I have replaced the Raw water pump and then got hold of (hopefully) better impellers
I am thinking of fitting a Plastic Vetus water strainer similar to this – see http://www.vetus-shop.com/raw-water-strainer-type-150-inlet-and216285mm-p-1028.html between the Raw water pump and the heat exchanger just above the water reservoir on the front of the engine to catch any rogue impellor blade tips in future.
I have not seen this done before on other engines so my question is – Any reason why fitting the strainer would be a problem?
