Has anyone with a 4107/4108 come across this problem yet. I carried out my own engine winter lay up this year and used the spare filters that came with the boat. When I went to my chandlers to replace the gearbox oil filter which was a Crosland 503 I was told that this has been discontinued. I am wondering what to do next year. HELP!!

Do you need the gearbox oil filter or the engine filter ?

Engine oil filter is perkins part 2654403 (do not take the 2654407 as I once did as it is taller and may touch the injection pump command lever)

Otherwise what kind of reduction gear do you have ?

There are a wide range of equivalent filters which will be suitable. Just nip down to your local auto parts shop and ask what equivalents you could use and he'll reel off a list of five or six. Some don't have non-return valves, so you'll dribble oil while fitting them. At least it's clean oil.

You could also ring 'ASAP' - they'll post a few equivalents to you on a credit card sale.
