Perhaps I needn't have worried.

It's hard when your loved ones need surgical attention. Last week I was fretting about poor old Shifta having her antifoul blasted off. It nearly took my mind off my wife getting a new knee on the same day. However, the result looks pretty neat to me, even though I know there are people out there who will tell me that I ought to have spent all winter crawling under her (the boat) and doing it myself. All she needs now is for the epoxy to be made good and I can look forward to going faster perhaps.

Air Blast did the job for me at Titchmarsh and you're welcome to have a look if you're interested, as she'll be in the yard for the winter.

Be careful who you choose. The bloke that did mine this year for coppercoating made a bit of a mess in a couple of areas, and needed repair.

That looks a neat job. Would it be improper to ask the length of your boat and an approximate cost?

Oh, hope the wife's knee looks as good a job :-)

Hi. The boat is a "34" but. Haven't been billed for it yet. The knee is coming on as well as could be expected. Six months to be ready for crewing duties.

The painting is going to be done by Mr Smoothie at the yard and I have great confidence in him as he has done other jobs for us and boats we know.

Always important to get the timing of operations right. :D I have now had 8 surgical procedures since 1985 and have not missed a sailing season yet. I am just hoping that the latest job - wrist fusion - will not render sailing too difficult/impossible.

You certainly do! Mine was slurry blasted by the PO and one coat of epoxy with two coats of AF. I've AF'd once, no scraping, just keying, two coats of Tiger Extra, (18 months later) which was easy because, I am firmly convinced, there was a good base to work off. We lifted and cleaned some slime only off/U] 12 months later.
I used to scrape and re- AF my previous boat anually with cheap stuff, never again!
