My new favourite gadget. We have one in our apartment and were so pleased with it we bought one for the boat, (inc the hand held).

Very good bit of kit and highly recomended.

Gtech Air ram and Multi with car kit

We use a Dirt Devil 12v plug-in vac.

It's quite an old one but well made; draws around 8A so is quite powerful and certainly effective at fetching up the dog hairs.

+1. Not going so far as to say it is my favourite gadget, but it is perfect for the boat.

we have a dyson on board, I wouldn't own a boat with a decent vac...

my favourite gadget...well apart from normal household items its got to be my Blasting Cabinet.

BTW, Soda Stream.... made me chuckle... a child of the 70's by any chance?

Of course! Would not know what to do without a constant supply of soda water :) it's really a very first world problem....

OK so perhaps favourite was a little over stated...:)

1. Nespresso
2. LG Smart TV with Skygo
3. Soda Stream
4. Gtech
5. GoPro

but position 4 for a vacuum cleaner is still pretty good!
1. Andrew James bean to cup coffee machine
2. Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin
3. Illy Francis Francis cappuccino
4. Heated blanket (ok a bit boring, but fantastic in this weather)
5. G Tech Hoover

sorry but something is missing from the pic

I'm torn between the G-Tech and the Dyson DC59 - similarly priced.

Ive experienced the Dyson briefly in a store and it seems as powerful as the 240v model I have at home. Its hard to believe the G-Tech could be as good, never mind better.

Anyone used both?

More to the point will the G-Tech resist falling apart more then the Dyson?

Agreed, I have a small cleaning company and having deployed far too many Dyson units and seen them fail would not go down that route. I've also gone through 2 of their wand battery units, (both suffered battery fail).

The problem imho is that they are over engineered, unless part b) is sitting perfectly in pipe a) then you lose suction and all the clever cyclone stuff becomes redundant.

Gtech is a KISS device and seems to work very well but you would need the hand held unit alongside esp on a boat.

I use a Dyson DC50 on board and it's great, but it would be better if it wasnt tethered to a 240v socket.

I can appreciate that a cleaning company would find a Dyson unsatisfactory... for continuous use, something much more substantial would be more appropriate - Miele perhaps? But I find Miele too heavy, and SWMBO couldnt carry it upstairs.

The G-Tech doesnt look like it should be as good as a Dyson, and I'm not currently prepared to risk £300 to find out :(

Agree it's a lot of money and I know that Dyson make a fine product. Out in the field they are far from ideal as you have pointed out. We have a Meile animal version at the cottage and its fantastic but far too heavy for the boat.

There is a deal every week on the G-Tech one in the Sunday Mail. Buy one get the other free or half price.......along those line anyway. IIRC

I bought a Dyson V6 for £299. Its hung on its bracket in a wardrobe, and charges when the 240v is on.

Performance and convenience is amazing. From hoover every few weeks, it's now at least every other day, and sometimes twice a day!

The boat is very tidy at floor level :)
