Morning all.

When I switch the control panel for my Penta 2001 on using the key I get a little chirrup from the buzzer and then it goes quiet even when the engine isn't started.
In my experience with other engines which were admittedly other brands, normally the alarm would sound constantly until the engine started.

Is this normal or does it bear further investigation?
The alarm test button produces a constant beep from the buzzer.

As my panel can't be seen when at the helm the audible buzzer needs to work.
Cheers

The purpose of the alarm test button is to test the audible alarm because the clever electronics in the VP panel prevent it from sounding before the engine is started. ( or more precisely, ITYWF, when the engine is not running)

Read your owners manual so that you know how the warning lights and buzzer should respond to alarm situations.

If you want reassurance try shorting out, in turn, the oil pressure alarm sensor and the temperature alarm sensor ( to the block if they are single wire ones) while the engine is running.... but don't get tangled up in the alternator drive belt!

That's a big help thanks.

I'll test as you suggest. I've already fitted a Vetus alarm in the exhaust so I'm pretty covered.
