Keep eyes and ears open please, mates boat was stripped, £5k, moored on the mud midriver at Penryn, Falmouth. Must have been done by boat. Other boats round him untouched.....no idea why.

They came equipped, used side cutters to get the wires cut back tight, took mast, aerials, lights, the lot. Liferaft, loose squipment, everything but the engine, 160hp inboard.
Maybe it's someone fitting out a new boat.

That’s worrying as my mooring is in the river almost opposite falmouth boat yard , but the boat is still in the yard at the moment waiting for them to reopen so we can launch . I will let them know and the mooring owner who is on the other side of the river .

most of the water born thefts around plymouth are done by the fishermen. believe me, i know.

they dont take masts though. well, not sailing ones.

It does sound like it could have been a grudge; either that or they knew full well what they would find and what they wanted.

I have known a some cases of break ins but normally a few random boats are picked out with the gits looking for high value items and doing damage along the way. 25 years ago, on the Plym, two drowned themselves in a dinghy, we were all very sad as you can imagine.

He only just bought it, and lives 20 miles away. Everything in the wheelhouse very visible from outside. Boats all round with outboards on untouched. Not quite a quick drug financing job, I think.

Just had a chat with him. After he found the theft he went back next day to do repairs, they had been again bringing back the S/S mast, bespoke for the boat, having stripped the lights and aerials, but this time took the chain from the locker, not a quiet operation. Boat is a Tamar 24ft dark blue moored off Lidl
They even took the batteries, two big ones, from the stern locker.
Definitely for someone fitting out. Do you know anyone round Falmouth building a boat?

Oh, and Truro H/M is shut down. Police not interested.

That puts us very close then.

Bit odd as Ponsharden has a lot of liveaboard's, would have thought they would have heard.

Sounds like they are just harvesting it. Loads of prints no doubt. Local plod need a kick.up the proverbial on this.

They have a boat, rowing boat for silence. They either have the stuff stored on another boat, or managed to unload to a car somewhere quiet. Two x 140A batteries take a bit of shifting. Aerials, too long to cover up.

OTOH, in the midlle of our village regatta last august someone calmly took an outboard off a boat on the beach, and walked away with it, nothing unusual to see.
I left my wallet on the pasty counter, next customer, lady said "Oh is this yours?" "Yes thanks" he dashed outside, stripped the cash, chucked the rest and ran off....in front of everyone.
