Penlee Lifeboat 25th Anniversary

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the Penlee Lifeboat Disaster . There is some sobering audio of the radio traffic to be found in the link.

Cruel Sea documentary is repeated on BBC2 at 19:00 this evening. For anyone that's not seen it before, it really is worth seeing. Very moving

Yes in my thoughts today....I spent a good few years with the RNLI but was spoilt with the modern aids and fast boats of today.....to have headed out that night in an old conventional type lifeboat ( a Watson Class) would have taken some doing........the really sad part of it all was that they had managed to get a few crew off and were going back in to get the rest of the crew when disaster struck,,,,,,,"For those in peril on the sea"
