I am trying to locate a particular type of pelican hook.

The type I am searching for has the hook secured by an oval ring sliding over both parts of the hook, but with a swaged end capable of taking a thread say 8mm.

I can see ones similar with an eye at the end but I am not looking for these.

It may be the ones I want are no longer made. Any clues?

Western Marine in Dublin.
Duncans in Glasgow.

As you are in Ayrshire then Duncans would be a good bet.

I've got the type you are looking for, I did a long search this winter for a replacement, but could not find any.
Trouble with this type is, when you unhook the Pelican and it has moved (as they do) down the thread, then, falls off, you loose the ring over board.
Could not find any replacement rings, but a friend made me a couple.

I imagined that the swage and thread part are kind of a consumable. You would get them from a person doing the swaging. provided of course the thread is correct for the pelican hook. The thread and swage section being hopefully the same for bottle screws. So buy the pelican hook remove the screwed in eye and screw in the swaged fittingwith wire attached. However it may not be as simple as that.
good luck olewill
