Pela oil extractor not sucking

I've got one of the larger cylinder types oil extractor which has done sterling service for many years, last weekend it stopped sucking, I imagine there is a damaged or stuck seal.
Before I take it aprt, I thought I'd ask if anyone has any suggestions.

If you can pump it then there must be a seal in the pump that has gone. If it just gets too stiff to pump then the thin tube is prob blocked. You can buy new tubes. I had used mine for clearing bilge water and the thin tube blocked due to rust.

Dim memory but I remember one that had an air leak in the base for some reason, would pump but not produce a vacuum.

I'll stand it in a bucket of water and check for leaks there, the pipes are definitely not blocked.
Just seen these Chinese clones oneBay for £27, might just get one of those.
