Pegasus Yacht Owners

Sorry NR, I don't agree with you. We should welcome all boaters and be considerate to their views. This forum is rapidly devolving into an unpleasant place with in-jokes (and I am guilty too) that do not encourage new people and an EA bashing culture that is not constructive.

Yes, I seek a return to the jokes, photos and fun. I am starting to find Facebook a better place to enjoy The eThames and this forum needs to be conscious of that.

I see virtually no unpleasantness in here!

In-jokes: When did they become a crime? Seriously, everybody starts off as a newbie, and newbies know they have to do a little time before they can open their gobs too wide.

It's like being in a Party with people you don't know. You need to feel things, and see how things work for yourself.

The established posters (Note I didn't say 'members') will inevitably have a bit more clout, and some might say things that others think might be a little harsh, but look through the post history, and you'll see 95% of it is just fine.

Thats as good as the Internet gets, and better than real life.

Facebook is not a replacement, it's an introverted little place where even the puniest people have control, because they can just click away things they disagree with, or get scared by. Most people don't realise they can do that here by using the ignore option...

The fact is, we need a little banter and the odd spat to keep things real. Forums with absolutely no cliques or nasty Nigels soon die.

Trust me mate, this one is a good kind forum as they go.

Fuelling the fire?

Have you no sensitivity John? How can you mention Fire after Ian's adventures the other day.....

:)

(Only kidding... Ian came out on Silver Dragon yesterday and we visited the scene of the incident).

Come on guys, lighten up, the weather is lovely. Get out there!

Only last week I've signed up to a RYA introduction to sailing course. Did it for three reasons:

1. Have a dinghy in the garden and don't know how to drive it.

2. Have seen a couple of chaps sail along the very upper Thames in beautifully varnished old boats in what I call a 'Dylanesque' style and was jealous.

3. Have noticed that foot for foot old sailing boats seem better value than old motor boats.

N.B. I have no idea what a Pegasus Yacht is but if I see one on 'my' bit of the Thames I shall wave with a smile at the captain / owner / driver whatever he / she is known as.

I am doing a BCU Kayak 1 star course on Saturday.... I suspect it will be somewhat chilly. No sticks and rags on the kayak though! :)
