peeling breathables

the impermeable membrane of my one-year-old breathable waterproof jacket has started disintegrating "catastrophically". OK it was a "cheap" Decathlon one - but the expensive Musto I had previously did exactly the same after a couple of years /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any ideas?

No, my 4-yr old Musto Inshore are fine as are my sons who races every weekend - how do you store them??

store them dry, in a wardrobe in the loft: would it get too hot? We are UK based.
