Peeing in Marina

But

sorry but that is ridiculous. The "other folk" who behave badly should be the ones to go somewhere else! You may as well say that if someone behaves badly by breaking into your house, you would give them the keys and move out - I mean - you wouldn't want to moan would you?

Try to understand they don't think they are behaving badly! different cultures as has been said.

that doesn't mean it has to be accepted. By and large most boatowners care about their environment and carping into an anchorage is unacceptable to most boaters I know. Boating is a culture in itself and it is generally not part of the boating culture to carp in an anchorage.

Maybe its not part of the culture of boating in the UK, but as Ian was trying to get across to you, its totally the norm in other countries. Boating may be international, but boating norms and culture aren't the same everywhere.

A selection for your consideration

Would you have been as concerned if the ladies on board were stood on the pontoon naked using the hose to wash down? We were once next to a boat with an all female crew in Port Haliguen and had to push past to get to walk ashore.:)

You could have at least offered to hold the hose for them

Well how about this one for you, the QE II and others like her could take ks of passengers and she had 100s of toilets, they all deposited in to holding tanks not a simple 10 gallon tank they measure it in tons on big uns, it holds tons of it while she is in the confines of the port authority's, but have you thought what she does with it all when she is outside the PA. Got it in one she simply dumps it all in the Oggin yes tons and tons of the stuff.
it usualy takes 10 to 20 mins to pump it all OB.

This not true, it is not "totally the norm". Don't forget we were talking about cra**ing directly into an anchorage full of swimmers, not peeing in the marina. This I assure you, after cruising extensively in Northern France, South of France, Italy, Greece and Turkey is not a normal part of boating culture and is not acceptable. It will be met by howls of protest wherever youre seen doing it, no matter what your nationality is, so please refrain.

I'm not comenting,on the grounds I might incriminate myself.

Please forgive me Haydn if I have got the wrong end of the stick after joining a thread halfway through but.................

After you have been based so long on the South Coast do I understand You have only been in Wales a year or two and you have started to toilet into the marina from the bow sprint already , lord help the sheep

How else do you wash the anchor.

I didn't say that I did it, but that I have seen it done - in Mallorca, Barcelona, Various ports in SoF, as well as most marinas in Brittany, and Cherbourg, and in Turkey too. I didn't take too much notice, and certainly wouldn't get hot under the collar about it. Its part of the local colour.

And there was me thinking their colour was sun tan

SWMBO was enjoying a swim when we were anchored in a bay in Turkey. A Dutch boat was also anchored. One of the blokes on board enjoyed a pee over the side as SWMBO swam by.

I've also seen a Dutchman pee over the side whilst moored in Southwold.

Similarly, we were once anchored in a very crowded anchorage in Ibiza with boats cheek by jowl and many swimmers in the water. A bloke sauntered onto his bathing platform, extracted his todger from his trunks (not big enough to get the ladies excited though) and proceeded to pee within feet of where our kids were swimming. French flagged boat of course.
Yes I know one way it all ends up in the water eventually but there are regulations, at least in the Med, prohibiting sewage discharge in harbours and anchorages and it's just plain unpleasant and unnecessary
