Looking at my sons unbelievably realistic PC games are there any good sailing computer games/programmes out there?

Yeah - Grand Theft Dopeboat
Steal a boat, crash the lock queue, sinking dinghies, running over lobster pots, cutting mooring buoys, swamping pontoons, landing drugs on the beach, carving up kids on PWCs, laughing at poor people, behaving snotty in marinas, parking cars laterally for 2 weeks, pulling amazing birds, having loud parties, ignoring colregs, acquiring bling electronics, evading harbourmasters & marine cops, BBqs on SSSIs.
Then there is level 2......../forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Got it last time I was in England (summer) its was about £9 from Computer World but I still cant understand now the game to works. It's easier to sail a real boat. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I used an older version some 7,8 years ago. Was impressed by the knowledge the makers had put into the simulation(!), but found no fun in it (it had even a very small control unit in the form of a helm...)

That's why I mentioned the demo to doca.

May be with the indeed 'unbelievably realistic PC games' it's great fun to *play* (war), and with sailing the real thing is better.

Could play the demo for ages but no idea where the tiller was.... "

Sorry, I really can't remember. It was in another century...

Try Virtual Skipper 3 at http://www.virtualskipper.com/indexUk.php . I had great fun with it last summer learning the rules of racing and some of the tricks you can use to force your opponents to give way, or commit a foul. I did have to upgrade my graphics card to get it running but if your computer is fairly new you should be ok.

Some of the sea scenes are so realistic I find myself swaying in my chair.

Enjoy

Most likely it's your graphics card not meeting the required specification. As I mentioned I did have to upgrade mine to get it working as my computer is the grand old age of 2 years. The new card was only about £30 though. If you do want to get it running the developers of Virtual Skipper will advise you of a suitable card.

Just spent most of the evening playing with the demo of Virtual Skipper 3.
I think is very good and could prove addictive. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Jolly big file to down load (65Mb) but I would recommend giving it a go as long as you have a broadband connection.

I dont think i can change my card as im using a laptop an IBM X31 i bought just one year ago. Ill try to find another to try it with, but i dont know anyone with anything but a laptop! I have a Apple we bought about 3years ago but noone knows how to get it online?
