Just thought I'd share this link for a free download that gives you a planetarium on your PC http://stellarium.free.fr/

I did it yesterday and it's great! I think it puts you somewhere around Paris but if you click the configuration spanner then the 'location' tab you get a map of the world and you can locate the little yellow dot where you are, or anywhere else.

Try the southern hemisphere when you've played with it for a bit, it's quite funny.

It's in real time (from your pc's clock) and you can speed up days backwards or forwards, add constellations and stuff. Very nice for a free bit of software.

While I'm on.... how do you do the clickable link buttons in the forum?

Have a look at -
<A target="_blank" HREF=http://skyandtelescope.com/observing/skychart/skychart.asp?city=aberdeen&country=UK&lng=-2.1&lat=57.1333333>http://skyandtelescope.com/observing/skychart/skychart.asp?city=aberdeen&country=UK&lng=-2.1&lat=57.1333333</A>

You can click and drag the green segment around, then maximise the resultant view. The link I've given is for Aberdeen, but you can change it to whereever you are
