It seems to me that PBO is turning into the magazine YM used to be. It has many more cruising articles of late along with reviews of boats a size which PBO never user too touch. I'm sure it won't be long before the money spent on a matt cover for YM will be spent on one for PBO to make the conversion complete...

Well, I bought YM for the first time in ages last week and was pretty grievously disappointed. The same "here's how to pick up a man overboard" article which has been in every single edition I have ever seen, the usual reviews of a couple of great big boats which I'll never buy and an apparent ignorance that anything less than 30 feet long exists. OK, so I only bought it for the adverts, really, but from the paucity of them it looks as if the commercial world ain't too impressed either.

Oh how the mighty are fallen. Looks like I'll have to go back to PBO...

PS And if I seen one more self conscious abbreviation - "doing the nav", "having a prep" - I may scream.

Unforunately PBO seems to be forgetting its origins and moving a little too far up market.

IMHO a little more "practicality" would not go amiss.

However, despite all our comments, the sales seem to be maintained. PBO has been by far the biggest selling yachting magazine in the UK ever since the first issue in January 1967.

They seem to have it right.
