PBO digital

[ QUOTE ]
Following the success of the digital editions produced by Yachting World and Motor Boat & Yachting, IPC Marine Media has committed to launching its remaining boating titles in this exciting new format.

The digital format allows subscribers the chance to receive their favourite magazine on the day of publication, direct to their computer, anywhere in the world - and IPC Marine Media is offering this service at the same price as a UK subscription.

Simon Owen, Publishing Director, explains how this format opens up these magazines to new readers: "Many of our readers have no fixed address for regular subscriptions as they cruise the world. Now digital issues offer readers the same great content, delivered straight to a computer on the day of publication anywhere in the world. It's a fantastic way for our readers to receive their favourite magazine really easily and at a great value price".

Readers simply register to receive the publication online, which includes a 3-minute download of reader software, and then they will receive an e-mail notice when each issue is available to download. Issues take moments to download and can then be read 'off line' at the reader's leisure.

Other functions differentiate the digital issue from a print magazine. A search facility allows readers to browse for key words in the entire publication. Readers can highlight text, pass on it on to friends and hyperlink straight through to published websites.

These exciting new formats will be available early in 2007. Please check back at this address in the new year.

Sounds like a nice little earner for IPC - no printing or distribution costs and the same charge to the reader. Most scientific journals which offer an online subscription reduce the charge to the reader by 15-20%.

Interesting.... I did email IPC Towers back in the summer about putting PBO out on as a reference DVD at the end of the year, as done by some other specialist mags.

Ah me, another consultancy gone down the drain because I said too much too soon... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
