I recently read a PBO 1995 and I really enjoyed reading it, as I thought it was alot more informative for the Practical Boat Owner who looks after their boats in maintenance.

It showed far more than todays version, which to me has too many ads for various things, rather than the practical tips for the owners.

I've been subscribing to the PBO for some two years, what have I missed?? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

1. How to make a galley sink out of a dog bowl.
2. How to convert a Centaur into a motor sailer by bolting 2 car seats into the cockpit. Yes, really.

Two of the classic issues from the 90s..

A galley sink out of a dog bowl ? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I hadn't thought of that ! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Guess what I'm doing tomorrow ? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm with you on that. I stopped getting PBO about 3 years ago for that very reason. Maybe nobody is interested in converting lifeboats into converted lifeboats etc any more?

However I find YM is better than it used to be and I particularly like Tom Cunliffe who seems to be somewhere between Eric Hiscock and Bill Beavis.

OBTW which issue gave instructions for converting Centaur to a motor sailer? Sounds a good idea....

I can't remember which issue it was, though I did cut it out and keep it for a while just because it was so funny.
IIRC, stage 1 was to add a somewhat chunky 'wheelhouse', presumably out of MDF or similar. Stage 2 involved getting 2 cars seats from a scrapyard and bolting them facing forward, 1 on each cockpit seat.

I don't think it was an April issue.
