PB2 done!

Did a bit of damage to the boat. My fault as I didn't react quick enough to the large wake we went over. Anyway TV off the wall including the panel its fixed to, WC cabinet mirror and door smashed and on the floor.
So a bit to do at the weekend.
As for the training it was a big change going from 4.6kts on the Thames to 30kts at sea.
Going to have to do a lot more boating before I feel fully confident in going coastal. My son is no longer keen on it at the moment.

Maybe a bigger boat would make it feel more comfortable whilst underway and when at anchor?

Thanks to Solitaire for the weekends training sorry we weren't the most receptacle of students to teach.

Ouch...that must've been some wake. Still, no matter....job done and now you can just get out there, get used to the difference and build up your confidence at your own pace and leisure. Just enjoy now.

I remember being in your shoes last year, my wife and I were completely new to boating and we wouldn't go out at all until we had completed the PB2. We're slowly gaining more confidence in our second season, but as lisilou says now you just need to get out there and enjoy coastal boating at your own pace.

Congratulations on passing the course though, it isn't simple to do and you clearly faced some challenges.

Congratulations! Agree with the others that the only way to build confidence is to stay with it until things feel more normal. No way to shortcut the process really but would encourage you to stay with it.

We did enjoy the chart navigation work which surprised us as we're not the academic type.

We did meet a couple on our pontoon who go with out in a similar size boat having not done any sort of training and have owned their boat for 7-8 months.Eek!

You all did well. Don't beat yourselves up, as I said all I can do in 2 days is is give you the techniques upon which you can build. Your level of awareness has been raised. Don't rush it and don't run faster than you can think!

We were out in a busy time and you have to be aware all the time. You are boating in one of the most concentrated boating areas around, remember what I said about safe speed - go and enjoy.
