Paul's Film

I hope it's better than the book because I've read a few chapters & lost interest.

Whilst the book may not be for everyone I found it an extremely moving and compelling tale. It is a book to be savoured, emotional but not cloying. The sailing part rings true and the emotional tale of the loss of a son is told with moving clarity
I would recommend it whole heartedly.

Very well put Gerry.
I completely agree.

I thought it was all a bit odd,no mention of why his son committed suicide? Maybe I need to read it again & it is a sensitive subject but trying to reconnect with him that way

Thanks Dylan.

Thanks Paul.

Brought a sad-sweet tear to my eye, as did the book countless times.

And for a brief moment stuck here in the soulless middle east earning boat bucks everything makes sense again.

What to do , where to go next? For an instant it's so obvious again, just go. Point the bow away from land to pastures new and the rest will fall into place.

So thanks to Dylan and Paul and Bernard and every other sailor who has not just heard the call from beyond the familiar bay, from across the ocean, but has answered the call by raising the anchor and pointing the bow in that direction.

Then left a record for the rest of us.
