Patio Magic then Fabsil?

My sprayhood, stackpack etc are white canvas. I had a few small dark spots of mildew at the end of last season that got sorted with a very mild bleach solution, scrub, rinse and dry. Before I refit them this year I was planning to give them a good soaking with patio magic to keep any mildew away. For the sprayhood in particular, I was then thinking of applying a treatment of fabsil gold to keep it 'proofed'.

Is this a stoopid idea?

Oh... and can I just soak the sprayhood in a bin of diluted patio magic or will that screw up the plastic windows?

Ok for patio magic and fabsil dont put anything on plastic windows to risky.

fabsil is difficult to apply in anything other than dead calm - at least the aerosol version is. whilst clothing is easy - i do it in the garage - i got very blotchy results on a bit of the spray hood before i gave up having only treated a small area (which now shows)

You could try Starbrite canvas waterproofer. I think it may be easier to work with than fabsil.

What I want to know is will giving the whole sprayhood a dunk in correctly diluted patio magic screw up the windows and can I safely apply fabsil over the 'treated' canvas once it is dry?

Patio magic shouldn't damage the windows.But it needs to soak into the fabric and then dry .I wouldn't dunk it ,paint it on .
It won't do anything for plain old dirt though.I would wash hood in the bath,first ,before doing the algicide treatment and then reproof.

Yes use a brush dont buy a aerosol

T'is already clean... I want to keep it that way and reapply the waterproofing.

Patio Magic is good for the green algae, don't know how good it is on mould though. It doesn't affect the plastic windows but Fabsil will.

no one knows it seems. will the patio stuff even work with a fabsil coating?
i guess it's probably suck it and and see or choose one from two.

I did last year and had no problems, but as others say use a brush. I left it a couple of weeks for the patio magic to work properly before proofing.

Cool... like I say it's already perfectly clean... I just want to prevent mould growing in the first place rather than curing it after the fact.

DON'T USE FABSIL.

The proofing doesnt last and it ruins the sprayhood windows.

Lasts long enough for a tent only used on holidays, and kept dry the rest of the time. Useless on anything that lives outside..

Hmmm .... That's interesting, I have used Fabsil on my sprayhood (painted on carefully) for the last four seasons and it seems to work for me. Perhaps it depends on what material the sprayhood is made from?
