It does work, eventually - it uses a lot of (= too much) scripting for page transitions, which slows the load down, and perhaps your browser has just given up waiting.

Doesn't work for me either - as JTB suggests, it downloads the code but never gets to render the page.

Firebug reports a 403 error retrieving the following script which is part of the page: http: //static.parastorage.com/services/bootstrap/2.718.7/libsExtentions.min.js. So, it might be an issue local to me - seems my porn filter does not like the presence of "sex" in that string ;-)

I knew a guy Amario who used to be involved with running the PPC... hope he is well, haven't seen his boat for a few years now?

I got a blank page too, but I block all 3rd party scripts unless they are of know origin so wasn't that surprised. Normally if visiting a new site, I would view first to determine content before enabling any scripts - if I get a blank page then I wouldn't usually proceed any further. Third party scripting is becoming increasingly popular for the spread of computer malware aka the 'drive-by virus' and blocking content that the site owner has no control over is IMHO wise practice (as the recent Yahoo advertiser hiccup illustrates). Personally I have no idea who wix.com or parastorage.com are and without checking first wouldn't allow their scripting - thus as the site rendered nothing and I didn't follow up!

The site is still a work in progress so some fine tuning & updating to get it optimized will be ongoing.The main aim was to get it up and running again as it was left in a very poor neglected state.
Looking at the stats in the hours after the post the poor server probably wondered what had hit it. so I guess a lot of people must have had a look. so not all bad.

Difficult to give feedback when all I get is a blank page though

Tried on Safari, MSIE and Chrome with the same results. Not blocking scripts.

The members boats page is a nightmare !

I'm looking at some boats then all of a sudden the images change, then they change again and so on. There is a description presumably relating to where my cursor is which can't keep up with the changing pictures either.

As JTB says, lose all the changing images page transitions and so on. Keep it simple. People know how to click on pictures or select from thumbnails so let them wander through at their own pace. I really hate having an image change when I am looking at it and if images change your eye is drawn away from any text you were reading.

Fair point Henry..

I think we may have to look at the size of the images as well as this seems to be part of the problem on slow loading.
hopefully will get time this weekend to do some changes/updates. :ambivalence:

I'm not a great fan of websites that don't use the whole page.
It just seems to me a "cop out" - too difficult to design something that fits all screens.
I know it isn't easy to do - especially with the likes of Internet Explorer being so incompatible with other browsers - but it IS possible.

RWD - Responsive Web Design seems to me to be the way to go.

Have a look at this site

You will see that this site fills the whole screen.
However, if you then "normalise" your browser's window so that you can resize it and make it smaller.
Then change the width of the window and gradually make it smaller.
At the point where it gets to a width slightly larger than that of a mobile device, you will see the whole menu structure change to suit that of a mobile device.
This is RWD being used at its best.
Have a play - I think we will be seeing much more of this type of web concept in the future.

Not having heard of the club before, it would be useful to know where you're based and what the main aims of the club are. Unless that information is well hidden, I can't see it on your website.

I totally agree. The Pathfinder Powerboat Club actually grew out the Seafever Power boat Club which was founded by a guy called Peter White who wrote some if the early powerboat training books, some are still in print. I was a member of that club and in fact a founder member and past treasurer of Pathfinder. The club has a great heritage and that is sadly lacking in this web site. I have already raised the issue with the Chairman, a good friend of mine, about the lack of depth and copy relating to the long history of the club. The Pathfinder Powerboat Club is really the only club of its kind with a history going back well over 20 years and has set a lot of people on their boating journey with confidence.
