For the last 10 years or so I have bought all my mags, boating/car etc, from a market stall at 3 for a pound. They could be anywhere from 2 months to 2 years old but new, not used. Sadly that stall has now closed.
Does anyone know of a market or other outlet that still does this?

As a magazine publisher, I'm glad they've closed. The market stalls are generally selling 'returns' which are supposed to be recycled and for which the publisher gets not a penny. Our industry is fighting a losing battle trying to stop market traders selling these stolen copies.

Interesting. I didn,t realise that. But if they were "stolen" copies why was that trader in business for so long? Perhaps he was finally caught!

The main problem is that the route to market, via a dodgy wholesaler, paper recycler, print finishing house or even printers themselves is very difficult to monitor and trading standards find it too expensive to investigate back to source.
Almost all weekly markets have one of these stalls and as quickly as one is closed down another opens up.

Who cares if a magazine loses financially, would you shed a tear over any other multi-million dollar international company losing a trillionth of their revenue?

Jerry, many of the multiple-million dollar publishers you refer to are in fact, one or two man bands with a passion for their subject. Still, don't let the facts get in the way eh?
