Hi everybody, just beginning to delve into the murky world of hydraulic passerelles. Very confused and no prices anywhere.
First, how do you determine if the transom is strong enough?
How much would a hydraulic passerelle of close to 3m cost plus installation?
Does anyone know of a good company to deal with in South of France?
The boat is a Beneteau Swift Trawler 34

I suspect that you will need some sort of strengthening in the transom - how much depends on what you want to do with it.
I assume being a ST you use the crane on the top deck to launch/recover the tender?

If it's just for walking on then plates or glasses in reinforcements where it mounts is probably sufficient.
If you aren't looking at a tender lifter, an electric rather than electric hydraulic may be a simpler, cheaper solution

I want to lift my wife's paddle board which is a hefty 25 kilos. And to walk on
 
Ok. Most electro hydraulic passerelle start with a lift capacity of around 200kg. Quite a lot will easily got to 300kg.
25kg is comparatively light. I suspect a fully electric pass would lift it but you'd need to check the specs. For that sort of lift I doubt much strengthening will be required above ensuring the mounting bolts don't pull through during normal operation.

Something like this would lift a 25kg paddle board and is much cheaper than a full hydraulic one. http://www.gangwayforboats.com/index.php?clang=en

Thanks, Whitelighter, that looks very interesting and very cheap. The reach is only half what I want but I will phone them tomorrow to see if they have a solution
 
3M sounds a bit big for a 32 ftr
You need a good Yard doing this stuff every day .

Labour is €70 /hrs charged out -say 10 hrs inc fitting the hydraulics /electrics ,not just drilling 4 holes .
So a grand in SoF for fitting .
Modal it's your chiose ,but OEM is Bessenzoni ,they do small light weight ones seen on ST 34/44 and yachts .
For a "Patek Phililpe " go go Pin craft .
They also fit stuff you have supplied .

Thanks Portofino, I thought that the passerelle that can be optioned from Beneteau sounded a bit short, I thought that if it wasn't farther than my jumping ability then what's the point. I have seen Bessenzoni on the web, I have to admit that I have been shocked at the eye watering prices of these things (not Bessenzoni in particular just in general). I will look into Arie D Boom, thank you for the contact
 
So Bouba, you're after a hydraulic passerelle, a generator, and maybe even a seakeeper. This has all the makings of either an excellent refit thread, or, dare I say it, a new boat thread...! Hope the sound test in Antibes was worthwhile. :encouragement:

And if the pound picks up I might start getting through my wish list. The new boat thread starts after Cannes and La Rochelle :)

Would it not be a good idea to contact a Beneteau dealer? The ST34 is a relatively recent model and must have been designed to be fitted with a pasarelle and a dealer should be able to tell you which model and where it was fitted. I would suggest that fitting the pasarelle that was originally available as an option would enhance the value of your boat whereas fitting a cheap one or an unknown make would not

Hi Mike, the one on Beneteau's option list doesn't extend very far, I just thought if I have one it might as well go places!
I'm not worried about the resale value, my wife said it's the last boat I'll ever own:(

Yeah fair enough. A pasarelle that doesnt stretch at least 1m behind the bathing platform is useless
