It’s over heated ....been running “ on “ for a long time .
Mine was a pin hole in the cockpit touch pad allowing water ingress , thus shorting .
Motor was €180 , touchpad ( better spec btw ) €300 .
You must find the short .

So, 2 offers locally - the Besenzoni dealer €561 or Lyvio, as mentioned by Porto and mcanderson, don't have the right motor but will cannibalise mine with a different new one for €430. However, just had a brainwave - I have a new alternator regulator due to leave the UK today, but the supplier can get a new exact match for the motor to him pre-noon tomorrow, so with overnight DHL I will have it on Wednesday am. £178.

Interestingly, when taking the motor off I found a rubber end cap from what would have been the previous motor lying underneath. These don't seem to last very long, so will probably pick up a spare when next in the UK

I had a bit of a look around the Lyvio website and there they advertise doing repairs on pumps and motors so if you do get a replacement you might want to get them to repair your old one and that way you have a spare?

I was nice to see a repair shop versus a spares shop. Both have great value at the right time.

Agree, get a new one but repair the old one. Pretty sure a competent repairer will do it. As long as the rotor and commutator is fine, should be doable

I had one of our Sanisplit units pack up a couple of years ago, removed it from the boat, brought it home and stripped it down. The motor had burnt out and a replacement was a ridiculous amount of money so I had a dig around, found and sent it to Electric Motor Repairs, armatures, London, Rewinds, Robson and Francis and they rebuilt ( or rewound whatever the correct term is) it for about £75. It's worked perfect since. So although it sounds like your boat is abroad, there must be similar over there or bring the motor home and get it done here.

Mark with it getting hot it will have got the relay hot so get a new one and keep the old one for spare.

isn't there a type number or code on the motor,
a few years ago I googled the number that was on mine,
and found a replacement motor from the OEM supplier...

Final update, the motor arrived from the UK today and took just 10 mins to fit. Whilst waitinf for the motor I also replaced the toggle switches for peace of mind.

The thing that surprised me is how quiet and how much quicker the new motor is. I suspect that the old one was pretty much knackered since I bought the boat!

A big thumbs up for that company. I use them all the time. I bought 2 starters from them a few years back. After 12 months and 4 days….one failed. Replaced without hesitation. No “send it back and we’ll have a look”…..just sent out a new one.
