I am looking to complete my passage planning at home and then update a C120W via Navionics CF card. Therefore looking for advise on which software and where to buy the Navionics card reader. Thanks everyone

You could do all your planning using OpenCPN on a laptop (under Mac, Windows or Linux).
And upload routes and waypoints by plugging in the laptop into the Raymarine system when you get to the boat.
The connection would be a USB to NMEA 0183 lead - Digital Yacht supply the lead - on Ebay for a little under £50.
I know this works because I do something similar.
OpenCPN is far from clunky and once connected the laptop would form a second plotter.
If you would like to know more, just ask.
I use OpenCPN all the time.
We even used it to move the boat 800m this morning.

I'm a convert of OpenCPN since Hurricane loaded it on my laptop in Italy. Used it loads since and as he says, it's easy to plan your route on a Sunday evening in the comfort of your armchair and dump it on the boat prior to setting off. Happy cruising.
