Yes, the CR**P piece of cast iron delivering hot seawater to my Volvo Penta D2-55 exhaust elbow ( the main elbow having been replaced with a Stainless Steel unit some 5 years ago) actually turned out to be solid iron oxide hiding behind VOLVO green paint.

It actually fell apart in my hands when being examined. Shame on you VOLVO for using absolutely the wrong and grossly overpriced materials for this application.

Riding into action comes Part4engines, the Sheffield Saviours, who delivered an investment-cast, 316 STAINLESS STEEL replacement to my UK contact within 24 hours of me placing the order.
Service well beyond the call of duty.
Thanks all.

The part is the hose connector which attaches to the elbow with two bolts. It has a 1" hose tube bringing in the hot seawater for passing into the exhaust.
On the parts4engines website search for V75P. Hope that helps
