Parts are cheaper from the USA!

I needed all the service parts to rebuild my raw water Johnson pump. So I searched the net for all the suppliers here, the best price I could get was about £230. I also found suppliers in the states, got the whole lot including impellor for $110. with the current dollar/pound exchange rate thats about £60. plus another £10 for postage. Incredible!

I will second that. Service is generally top class too. Delivery is as quick as ordering from Europe and some stuff still gets in VAT free!!

Don't know about the UK but way cheaper than Ireland and great service too.

Had a similar issue with Yanmar parts, but in this case Yanmar won't "let" the USA suppliers deliver to UK.

Persistence paid off and got Yanmar to reduce the price of the part I was chasing but no doubt the others are still at the same inflated margin. Same parts but very different prices!

Visiting the UK, I had the experience of seeing virtually every marine "offer" in equivalent pounds/dollars. Given the exchange you sailors get screwed vs North America. It gave me wonder that sailing is considered "posh". Go online and see for yourself.
