Part 7 of my Round Britain video has just been loaded to YouTube.

It's on the "to do" list once I retire and have the time. We plan to sail around the UK then and will no doubt savour and linger on the west coast of Scotland and some of the SW of England.

I have learned from other adventures that when people ask how long it takes, they should really ask how long they need. It’s easy to rush from place to place and miss so much in between which would happen if I were to try and fit it into holidays and weekends. I’d love to transit the Caledonian canal as well but don’t want to miss the northern Scottish mainland, Orkney and Shetland so may have to go round twice.

If you do not want to miss the Caledonian Canal, well you could do the figure of 8 round Britain by going through the canal in both directions. From where you are based this could be split over 2 seasons by returning back to Northumberland for the winter. Then you would have plenty of time to visit so many more places.

My personal thoughts are that the canal was a bit underwhelming compared to the coast north of Oban. But as Concerto suggests, a figure of eight would cover both.

It is one I have not come across, so I checked it out for the northern parts of the UK. There are so many harbours I used that are not even mentioned, but obscure anchorages are. Also try zooming in on Aberdeen, all the surrounding villages and then districts of Aberdeen are shown before the City name appears. This makes it not so easy use, especially as Aberdeen has no facilities for yachts and can only be used as a harbour of refuge in extreme condition.

Yes, it all looks very slick, but I am not going to change how I create and show my trip as I am already over halfway round. The videos I have created are more of a personal record of my trip, and for those watching, I am trying to show the conditions, the harbours and places worth visiting. Hopefully this will encourage others to try and do a similar trip in the future.

On a personal note, my wife thinks I spend far too long on yachting web sites and editting videos, let alone working on Concerto, than getting on with things around the house or going out to enjoy things together.
 
Your latest video came up in my YouTube feed this morning. Currently saved to watch later but I did have time to think Concerto was looking smart. Thanks for posting it.

As a one stop place to save all your passages & memories for easy access it does work well though, seems to make much more sense having the youtubes/pics saved on a map where it was recorded & a few seconds to save. Then one click for anyone to see it all.
not much traffic up there though so little crowdsourced input. same with navily.

I agree a map-based format makes a lot of sense for a sailing story.
