So taking away your £7 Poole tax, that makes you £4 cheaper that Lymington for very poor service. What do you want me to say more?

I also neglected to say that the VAT man also takes his cut, in your case another £3, leaving us just £17.40.

You have plenty of options in Poole from free to very expensive, so please feel free to take it or leave it. As I said, this is a CLUB facility built at great expense for the benefit of it's members and which we chose to make available to others when we have spare berths. If you chose to spend more and go to Salterns or to The Dolphin Marina at Poole Quay then that is indeed their loss and I believe our gain.

Frankly my dear I couldn't give a damn. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

As a matter of interest BTW, can you tell us what facilities your club has and do they make them available to visitors?

I am not at a club, I am at Premier.

BTW I have had enough of this thread as well. I already said I have voted with my rudder and was just trying to add balance to the PYC rah rah band. Simply speaking , regardless of whether it is worth your while or not, saving £4 and having to put up with manky showers, no one to talk to when the things go wrong AND scaling a gate makes no sense to me.

Enjoy your club.

Peter,

You're saving four quid compared with Lymington, but not compared with other marinae in Poole. Last time I was in Salterns, I got a aggrieved phone call from my bank manager. Salterns claim to want £32.50 for a boat less than 10m, but at the bottom of the page it says:

All charges are exclusive of Harbour Dues (Crown Commissioner’s Charges – Swinging Mooring only) and VAT – L.O.A includes all projections. Effective as from 1st April 2005. At £0.60 per metre per day, count another £6.00 for the peaked caps, makes £38.50, then add VAT makes £45.24.

Flipping heck, what more do I need to say. My £4 already has harbour dues removed!! I paid £30 at PYC and then, the following midweek night, paid £27 at Lymington. Robin advises that harbour taxes are £7. At such, the real cost at PYC was £23. So, I saved £4 and acquired 3 p!55ed off ladies, and went on an assault course. Me think bad deal. If others think that is okay, then, fine. Just not for me, and just maybe, not for others.

Peter, comparing Poole Hbr marinae with Lymington ones is like comparing fish with fowl, coz you can't park in Lymington and enjoy the dubious delights of Poole.

What you need to do is compare PYC with other Poole boat parks. In which case PYC is the bargain venue.

Whether it's enough of a bargain to justify wearing climbing boots for access is another question.

You obviously didn't go the club to appreciate the qualities of being a private members club - so used it as somewhere to tie up for the night. Personally I'd rather go to PYC than our other choices in Poole ... granted there are cheaper marinas elsewhere, but then UK prices are a ripoff .. compared to the French ones.

How much would you've paid at Dophin?
