Expecting a delivery from classicmarine. essential for the weekend. decided to have it delivered to school so i could be sure of getting it. by 5.30 no sign so i phone parcelforce. it will arrive by 6 said the girl. at 6 i phoned again. it will be 7 said another girl. not good enough said i. oh sorry said the girl it should have been there by 5.30. where is it i asked. i dont know said the girl maybe you will get it by tuesday. school is closed for 2 weeks said i so what can i do. i dont know said the girl. who does said i. i'll ask my supervisor she said. for 20 minutes i waited. i cant get through said the girl.
by this time all i wanted was a little parcel of cyanide and to kiss goodbye to the wall. i cant help you said the girl but i'm ever so sorry.
 
I have the solution....

We are selling our house; from the upstairs front window we can see Classic Marine's premises.

No, seriously, how incredibly annoying, because I can confirm, knowing them well, that the staff at Classic Marine will not be the ones to blame; they are zealous in getting stuff out.

mirelle, i lay no blame at the door of classic marine. the chaps there were very helpful and i know did their best to get the stuff to me. i don't even blame parcel force. i know cock ups happen. its the impotent rage you feel at the end of the phone when you just know you are being pratted about. i'm a teacher and i know lots of us are pathetic, but if i did my job as badly as some of these big businesses do, i know it would lead to major trouble and questions in the house. i know i'm whinging. all i wanted was a bit of caulking cotton and some white lead paste delivered. parcel force only have one job, which is delivering parcels, so why are they so crap at it.
 
Yep - sounds like our friends at Parcel Farce alright. Ordered some stuff from the US some time ago - there was a choice, so I chose Parcel Farce to be the UK side carrier. Parcel arrives in UK in 4 days and is collected by PF, 3 weeks later, it has not appeared so I make contact - turns out Parcel Farce did pick it up, but then "lost" it (it was a high value electronic item and labelled as such on the packaging ... draw your own conclusions). I reordered the item , but this time elect Fed Ex (despite my patriotic intentions) to be the carrier US AND UK side - what happens? Arrives at my door 3 (yes 3) days later all present and correct.
Wild horses will not induce me to use Parcel Farce again.

fed-ex can be just as bad : I recently waited over a month for an "international priority service" packet from the US : when it arrived....it had been with fed-ex UK for all bar 3 days of the time since it was sent
 
Wednesday five parcels turned up by Parcelfarce from Screwfix - thought Screwfix had gone barmy unil I realised that the addresses on two of the parcels were for other people in the village so set off next morning on my delivery round!
